About
Carla Wise
Firstly, welcome! I hope this website gives you some insights into the work I do.
Background
I have a varied background - I began my working life in the theatre, then moved to the corporate business world in learning and development for 18 years; alongside working as a counsellor and subsequently as a dramatherapist. I have created my business by combining these areas. Ultimately I support people in the area of changing behaviour, and to do this I utilise creativity where possible. I work with a variety of tools and techniques and work alongside people to take risks and achieve their goals.
Coaching
I work within organisations to improve communication and behaviours, with individuals, leaders and teams. At the heart of my work is the relationship with the client - this is key to a successful outcome. I take time to get to know people I work with and explore with them the challenges they wish to overcome.
Development
I believe that reflection enables us to learn and potentially change some of our behaviours that no longer serve us. This can have huge impacts in both our careers and our personal lives. The biggest challenges are often related to how we communicate and engage with others.
Dramatherapy
Dramatherapy is a form of arts psychotherapy which uses creative techniques to explore deeper understanding of ourselves. It is not necessarily about drama or acting but uses many different media to explore challenging situations. It allows people to see things differently , thus changing their perspectives. Most of my work with clients involves issues such as loss, grief, major changes and understanding behaviours that limit them. I work with all age groups.
Dementia
My work with relatives of people with dementia begin with my own personal journey of helping to care for my mother, who developed early onset dementia in her 50's. Many of the themes that occur in dealing with this illness reoccur in many areas of life such as dealing with difficult change and being clear of our identity. Having someone to talk to can make the world of difference to someone coping with the impact of dementia in their lives.
